disposable
Disposable camera portraits and places in NYC & Toronto.
The aim of this project was to allow myself to capture moments of inspiration that I could forget and then reflect on in the future. I like using a disposable camera because unlike a digital camera or phone you don’t know what the image will look like until it’s developed. The nature of disposable cameras allow me to act spontaneously when gathering imagery. Aesthetically this imperfect nature creates hazy visions, allowing me to achieve a dreamlike quality which is an ever running theme within my art. With these images I feel like I created a sense of flippancy, rebelliousness and malaise. Through this mini project I coined the term ‘stolen weather’, which latter inspired my ‘polaroids performances’, where I often focus on passage of time through the changes of season via documenting the natural landscape.
