Sky-Field 2
Participatory performative installation, a project curated by Eleni Kolliopoulou @ Belfast School of Art, February 2019.
Concept and contextualization of Eleni Kolliopoulou’s research:
“This research project Sky-Field 2 is part of Eleni Kolliopoulou practice-based research upon the Butoh body notion as enriching element of installation art (both formally and conceptually). Butoh is a contemporary Japanese dance form that arose in parallel with happenings in the Western art world. It encompasses a creative meditative state and body awareness, aiming primarily to an alternative dwelling of the environment. Install-action is a term coined by Brian Connolly and is related to the idea of Actuation introduced by Alastair MacLennan. Both terms, encompass an approach of ecological awareness and interconnectivity between the body of the spectator-participant, the performers and the environment. The linking force is an action and their com-presence in the space. Sky-field would be the third of those iterations/research projects to follow after Seabed and Waste-is-land. Those research installations are forming the practice-based aspect of my PhD research which is entitled: The body of the relationship. A practice-based exploration of the relationship between the body and its environment informed by the notion of Butoh body.”
